Gabriel Lagunes, General Manager Asia, CN Canada Railway, Canada 

 

Gabriel Lagunes was appointed General Manager Asia effective July 1, 2018, based in Shanghai, China. In his new role, he will oversee business development, freight forwarding operations and public relations throughout Asia, driving forward CN’s successful business agenda to date.
 
Since joining CN in 2006, Gabriel has been an integral member of the CN team who has helped promote Canada’s Asia-Pacific gateway and corridor initiative. Working for the Intermodal International team in marketing first, he joined the sales team in 2010, covering North America, Latin America and Asia based ocean carriers, with varied scope and size.
 
Gabriel began his transportation career with Maersk Line in 1997 in Mexico and then Canada. During his career at Maersk, he held different roles with increasing level of responsibility, the latest being Process Improvement Manager for Maersk Canada’s Customer Resource Centre in Toronto.
 
Gabriel holds a Bachelor in International Trade from the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico, an MSc Transport Engineering and Operations from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, and an MSc (honours) Transport and Maritime Management from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. Gabriel can speak English and Spanish and is a certified reach stacker crane operator.
