Topic: Which real growth to expect on the pharma market for MNCs in 2014

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical markets in Asia. According to Business Monitor International, Vietnam ranks 13 of 175 countries for the fastest growing global market in drug spending.It is said that Vietnam is an attractive market for foreign pharmaceutical companies, who continue to enter the country in growing numbers. The percentage of market share of foreign investors keeps increasing year over year. While achieving success in development continues to define those who will be the industry's winners and losers, other issues are increasingly demanding the attention of top management. These issues include navigating the challenges of global regulatory compliance, optimizing the supply chain, achieving marketing excellence and effectively managing organizational complexity on a global scale. In that situation, what is the expectation for the pharma market in 2014?

Mr. Vincent Goalard has worked more than 20 years in pharmaceutical and healthcare operations in Vietnam and South East Asia for several reputable companies of all sizes and has a deep practical experience of the market intricacies. Vincent is a professional expert in cross-cultural environments, having managed and trained people from 30+ countries, on all continents and following all the major religions in the world. Having built, managed, merged or restructured multimillions dollar business units for multinational and local pharmaceutical companies in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, Mr. Goalard has a clear understanding of the management challenges in the region and in Vietnam in particular. Besides his background in Multinational Groups, Mr. Vincent Goalard has also acquired management experience of selected local privately owned companies, granting him a unique insider view on the local business practices and the hurdles faced on corporate governance in modern Vietnam. Vincent is currently Vice-President of the French Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CCIFV) having created a very active CCIFV Healthcare subcommittee in 2005-2008. CCIFV is a member of Eurocham Vietnam, represents 260+ members in Viet Nam with a cumulated yearly turnover superior to 5bio USD and employing more than 65.000 people. Vincent is Ambassador in Vietnam for KEDGE, one of the leading business school in France.

Facts about Pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam:
Manufacturing companies: 263 Vietnamese enterprises manufacturing drugs which satisfied GMP-WHO standards in 2011 
Distribution companies: 1,952 companies which have traded in pharmaceutical business.
- Prior to 1 January 2009, foreign invested companies were not allowed to import and distribute drugs. After 1 January 2009, they were allowed to directly import drugs, but not to conduct local distribution.
- In 2012, there were about 170 pharmaceutical companies in Vietnam.
- The country has 140 private hospitals and close to 900 public hospitals.
