Vietnam’s economy grew 7.1% year over year in the first half of 2018. Manufacturing boomed in the first half of the year (12.9%), fueling the industry and construction segment of the economy (9.1%), while agriculture (3.9%) and services (6.9%) also recorded healthy growth rates.

Frederick Burke has over 20 years experience practicing in the area of corporate law. He served as the Practice Group Leader of the Firm’s Global WTO & International Trade Practice Group from 2006 to 2007, and has been ranked by Chambers Global as a leading lawyer in both Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions and International Trade for three successive years. Mr. Burke has also been recommended in more categories than any other lawyer in Vietnam by PLC Which Laywer? in 2008. He is currently a member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Administrative Reform in Vietnam. Mr. Burke is highly regarded for his work on foreign investment projects in Vietnam and China for key players in the property development, trade, IT/C, and project finance areas. He provides practical advice in the related issues of securities, finance, tax, labor, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. Mr. Burke also has extensive experience in working closely with Vietnamese legislators and law drafters on the many new laws and decrees that have been introduced to integrate Vietnam into the global economy.

 

 

Ralf Matthaes, Founder & Managing Director, Infocus Mekong Research

 

Ralf is the founder and Managing Director of Infocus Mekong Research, Vietnam’s first dedicated Mobile Market Research firm. Infocus focuses on Mobile phone data collection, specialized custom research and integrated strategic research and covers the Mekong region with partners, MDI & POD Research. As Vietnam’s longest practicing Market Researcher, Ralf established TNS Vietnam in 1996 and over the years, set-up and ran TNS Media, Kantar Worldpanel and operations in Cambodia and Myanmar, garnering dominant market share in each market,  as well as running TNS Thailand & Malaysia. A Graduate of Wilfred Laurier University, Ralf served as Aide de Campe (read glorified coffee boy) for the Deputy Minister of Ontario Canada before succumbing to the charms of Vietnam in January of 1994.

Mr. Thi currently holds the position of CEO of ABA Business Solutions Corporation. Prior to founding ABA in 2008, he worked as Commercial manager of Lamberet (Refrigerated Trucks) for 6 years, Commercial manager of Bourbon for 2 years and Retail manager of Big C for 2 years. He attains massive insights and experiences in cold supply chain with expanded knowledge in retails and Vietnam cold chain markets. He is now operating the first asset-based integrated cold chain logistics service with a large scale of owned truck fleet and cold storage across Vietnam.

 

 

 

 

Julien Brun, Managing Partner, CEL Consulting

 

Julien is the founder and Director of CEL Consulting, the first international Supply Chain and Operations consulting firm in Vietnam. He is now managing a team of consultants who is fully involved in providing their expertise to procurement, manufacturing and logistics related businesses in the region. MSc in mechanical and system engineering (Technology University of Troyes, Ecole Nationale des Arts et Metiers, Paris), he gathered experience and know-how at several positions in product/process optimization in aeronautics (Airbus, Cooper tool) and automotive industry (Peugeot Citroen, Rover group) in France, England and Holland. Julien has spent as well 2 years in Africa, where he coordinated logistics and food distribution for >100,000p refugee camps in Africa, for the account of WFP (World Food Program) and UNHCR (High Commissioner for Refugees). From his arrival in Vietnam in 2005, Julien immediately felt lined up with local dynamism and developed the firm intention to support actively the country's industrial development. Beside consulting work, he is now lecturer in Lean Management and SCM in for Executive MBA program of CFVG Ho Chi Minh city. Julien used to be the Vice President of French Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh chapter) and now acts as Board Member at the CCIFV.

 

 

Fabian Wandt, CEO Lazada eLogistics (LEL) Vietnam 

 

Fabian Wandt is a young leader who is passionate about developing logistic for e-commerce in Vietnam. He grew from an intern to be Chief Executive Officer of Lazada e-Logistic (LEL) Vietnam in 6 years. He is now responsible for all facets of the business that support logistics for Lazada.

Mr. Wandt joined Lazada Vietnam when the company was founded in 2012 as an intern. Although he was an exchange student from Germany at Ho Chi Minh City of Technology, he took the role of Head of Order Fulfillment. In January 2013 after finishing his degree in Europe, Mr. Wandt decided to go back and start his challenging but exciting journey at Lazada Vietnam as Head of Warehouse. Ever since, Mr. Wandt has played a key role in establishing and constructing the supply chain and logistic of the company. He has addressed many challenges of e-logistic under the poor local infrastructure. His dedication was recognized as in 2017, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Lazada Vietnam. Under his leadership, the operation of Lazada Vietnam has flourished.

Mr. Wandt’s influences also extended to marketplace operation during 2013-2014 when he was accountable for building the operation that supported thousands of merchants and customers.

Mr. Wandt was seen as a passionate, dedicated and hard working lead throughout the past 6 years. His energy never stopped to inprise his staff and colleagues around him to keep pushing forward and solve the problems. Mr. Wandt was influenced by the leaders within the company, some of who are CEO, COO and Regional Head whom he directly worked with and who saw his development. He wanted to give opportunities to the people under his leadership. Many talents were found, motivated then contribute to the development of e-commerce logistic at Lazada.

 

 

Vinh Le, Global Logistic Manager, Datalogic Scanning APAC

 

Vinh Le is the Global Logistic Manager at Datalogic, in charge for Asia Pacific. Datalogic is the leading provider in Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation, with reliable solutions that drive real benefits for their customers in Retail, Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistic and Healthcare industries. With over 10 years of diversified experience ranging from Engineering, Project Management, Warehousing and Logistics, Vinh has participated in several optimization, cost saving and efficiency improvement project within the hi-tech environment.

 

 

 

 

 

Dzung Phan, Country Manager, NinjaVan Vietnam

 

Dzung Phan is the Country Head of Ninja Van Vietnam and is responsible for all of Ninja Van business activities and operations. Before this role, Dzung was a management consultant in Monitor Group, Deloitte Consulting, and Roland Berger in Singapore, where he has experience across sectors such as transportation, telecommunication, and public sectors. Dzung graduated with a Master of Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

Mr Harti joined FM Logistic in 2013 as part of the strategic projects team for 2 years where he contributed to the acquisition of Spear Logistics in India. He then managed warehousing operations in France for more than 2 years with a strong experience in Complex Retail Operations. She hold different positions at retail management level including supply chain lead focused on fresh food sourcing & distribution, private label development, procurement for food service chain. She also led 3PL operations team to serve retail customers with their logistics needs for Vietnam market distribution. Her experience allows her to have an end to end supply chain view while having an actual operations experience. Mathilde hold a MSc.
