WORKSHOP ON DEVELOPING AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAIN IN TAY NINH HELD

At the event, over 10 domestic and international investors singed agreements to invest VND15,000 billion on developing the agricultural value chain in Tay Ninh from 2017 – 2020.

NDO – An international workshop on developing the agricultural value chain in Tay Ninh organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee and the Institute of Vietnam Organic Agricultural Economics, was held in Tay Ninh, on January 6.

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of PCC Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh and leaders from ministries and departments, along with authorities and 40 international groups from Japan, Republic of Korea and the US.

According to Pham Van Tan, Chairman of Tay Ninh province's People's Committee, the province has many favorable conditions for agricultural development. The province’s total agricultural land area is 270,000 hectares, accounting for 65% of natural land.

However, the province’s agricultural products are of differing quality levels. The number of exported agricultural commodities is low.

Addressing the workshop, Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh said that the province should focus on developing clean products, organic products, high-value foods and environmentally friendly commodities with their geographical origin stated.

He also asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to support Tay Ninh province to add value to the province’s agricultural exports while contributing to the supply of food with a safer and more sustainable value.

At the event, over 10 domestic and international investors singed agreements to invest VND15,000 billion on developing the agricultural value chain in Tay Ninh from 2017 to 2020.
